THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A seven-member Board of Directors runs AFAWI. They meet twice a year to discuss progress being made by the organization, challenges, and the way forward. Together, they provide the necessary policy direction, administrative oversight, motivation, and quality leadership that keep the organization’s programs, goals and objectives in perspective. All major decisions are made at this level.
THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
AFAWI is run on a day-to-day basis by a Six-Member Executive Council. The Executive Council is voted into office by the General Assembly of the organization, and has a four-year term of office. The Executive Council consults with the core staff on a daily basis and discusses all matters of concern with them.
They serve as the link between the Core staff, PLWHs and the Board of Directors. PLWHs AFAWI is basically a women’s organization, with about 40 PLWHs participating in the organization of which all are women.
