CORPORATE GENDER EQUALITY TRAINING PROGRAMME 

AFAWI launched in 2022 the CORPORATE GENDER EQUALITY TRAINING PROGRAMME, which focuses on promoting a gender sensitive, inclusive and comfortable work environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment for everyone in Ghana. With this project, we target corporate entities all over Ghana to ensure and include gender responsiveness at the workplace. â€‹

The programme covers:

​

  • Training for employees on the topic of gender equality, including an explanation of terms, gender roles and gender stereotypes, legal framework and sexual harassment.

  • We further offer to serve as (legal) advisory body to your company and propose certain measures for improvement of gender sensitivity at your workplace.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT GENDER EQUALITY AT THE WORKPLACE?

​

LEGAL OBLIGATION: Gender Equality and Freedom from Harassment at the workplace is a human right.

​

BUSINESS GROWTH: A comfortable and safe working environment for everyone leads to growth and increased productivity and makes the company internationally competitive.

​

FINANCIAL STABILITY: Sexual Harassment claims by employees can become very expensive for the company and can cause lasting damage the company's reputation.

​

FACTS: At least 30 percent (3 in 10) of all women globally suffered sexual harassment at workplace (Source:BBC, 2017). Our own experience shows so far, that there is a need in every company to talk about the subject matter and company's often lack specific structures and mechanisms to address sexual harassment adequately.

  • To promote a gender sensitive, inclusive and comfortable work environment for everyone in Ghana.

  • To promote a work environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment which ensures that each is able to give his or her best

We have reached our goal, when every employee in Ghana is able to enjoy security and access equal rewards, resources and opportunities regardless of gender!

IMPROVING GENDER SENSITIVITY AT THE WORKPLACE

TRAINING ON GENDER EQUALITY

AFAWI provides training sessions for all employees on gender equality, including an explanation of terms, gender roles and gender stereotypes, legal background and sexual harassment.

FORMATION OF GENDER EQUALITY COMMITTEE

AFAWI proposes certain measures to your company, to improve gender equality at the workplace. This includes a formation of a Gender Equality Committee.

(LEGAL) ADVISORY SERVICE TO COMPANY 

AFAWI offers to serve as continuous advisory body to your company in all gender related issues. This includes a legal first assessment of cases of sexual harassment and other measures. We can also refer you to skilled personnel, in case further assistance in legal, health or other matters is needed.
