Alliance for African Women Initiative (AFAWI) is excited to offer partnerships with university students (graduate, undergraduate, postgraduate), individuals and organizations who wish to conduct their field research in Ghana.
Within over 13 years of operation, our staff has gained an outstanding experience with successfully assisting students from all over the world with their field research for their thesis or dissertation.
From the University of Ghana in Accra over the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands - we can count several students as participants in our research programme and distance research support.
The Research Programme includes
I. Assistance with the design and structure of research topics.
II. Help with the shaping of your research hypothesis.
III. Support with the formulations of research questionnaires and focus group interview questions.
IV. Support with the gathering of field data through administering questionnaires and conducting of one on one interviews and focus group discussions (including translation assistance for all local languages).
Additionally we now offer distance Research Support
With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, most of our students had to leave the country of Ghana and since then it has become extremely difficult for undergraduates, graduates and researchers to travel, as a result of countries restriction measures to prevent the spread of the virus. There are restrictions on international travels, movement of people and other Covid-19 protocols such as compulsory 14 days quarantine and isolation for international travelers.
Our Research Support therefore gives you now the opportunity to start or continue to conduct your research studies without necessarily traveling to Ghana, and with the help of the AFAWI Research Team.
The aim of the Research Support is to support local and international undergraduates, graduates and researchers to conduct gender and women related thesis research and other surveys in Ghana, through the collection of field data and further assistance through our team on site under your instruction.
The Research Support encompasses those interested in conducting their own field research topics and those who need the AFAWI Research Team assist them formulate theirs.
The Research Support activities include all activities of our research programme (see above) through our team on site under your instruction.
Please contact us to discuss your research topic and for more information on the tailored Research Programme or Research Support.
